malignant mesothelioma

Malignant mesothelioma is more spread than the benign mesothelioma cancer and in some cases it can expel the benign cells and transform them in malignant cells of cancer. This disease in fact is malignant in general because its action being so aggressive and it’s spread being so fast in latent form, they are all giving the malignant character. The disease is spread among the internal organs of the human body, and it attacks the two vital ones: the heart, the lungs and it can also move to the lower organs, found in the abdominal cavity, affecting the peritoneum, the thin layer protecting the abdominal organs.

Malignant mesothelioma can be the perioteanl mesothelioma, the pleural mesothelioma and the pericardial mesothelioma, the known forms of cancer people confront with after a long time exposure to asbestos fibers. This form of cancer can appear after three or even five decades after the patient was exposed heavily, by the nature of his work, to asbestos mineral fibers. Asbestos is a mineral but a very toxic one and impossible to be broken down by the human body or even expelled during all these years and so it’s causing internal infections and inflammations or scarring of the internal tissue protecting the organs.

The reason why malignant mesothelioma is so hard to fight with is because its action happens in a long term latency which was not discovered in other form of diseases. The spread of each disease type is different and it has on the first place the pleural mesothelioma, then the peritoneal mesothelioma and in the end the pericardial mesothelioma. Doctors have made this categorization considering the number of patients diagnosed with this rare form of cancer. Researchers have invested more time and financial resources in the investigation on the pleural mesothelioma because it’s spread is at a higher level and also the action is less destructive in time than the other forms of mesothelioma cancer.

Malignant mesothelioma was discovered by science in the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century because many of the symptoms are similar to other diseases and illnesses and it can easily be misdiagnosed with other forms of cancer and even hernia. Some of the symptoms of this terrible form of cancer are pains in the chest, general fatigue state, difficulties swallowing, shortness in breath and chronic cough. This is why is very important to consult a specialist and have detailed exams to find out the exact reason of any or other if these symptoms you or members of your family accuses.

Malignant mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer which doesn’t respond the same to traditional treatment in cancer diagnosed patients, like surgical intervention, chemotherapy, radiation or other treatment. Unfortunately the life expectancy for this form of cancer is reduced dramatically to one to five years and the cases with longer time or survival are considered very rare and miraculous. Furthermore, like doctors always say, we strongly recommend detailed examinations and medical investigations to have a correct diagnose.
